So exciting, *Emerald's Real Deal at Everlast* (aka Vander) took Winners Dog both days at the Bell Vernon Kennel Assn, June 27th and 28th 2009. I might add these wins were from the 9-12 month puppy class! Good job baby boy!

If that weren't good enough, my girl Tesla *Mi-T's Electrical Storm*, finally got her first point this weekend too!  Not only did she take Winners Bitch, but cleaned up with Best of Winners AND Best of Opposite! Way to go kids! You done me proud this weekend!

A special thanks to the judges this weekend, Mr. Kevin Middagh and Mrs. Monica Pinsker who saw the great qualities in my dogs. These wins weren't based on handling skills, just good old fashioned judging the dog, and that is what this sport SHOULD be about.

HORRAY TESLA!! You made Daddy Apollo Very Proud!!!! Keep up the good work baby girl!!

Great weekend for you Heather Congratulations again!! :)

It really comes down to how you take care of the dog. If you pschraue a puppy from a reputable breeder, and take care to train the puppy and socialize him or her well, to other dogs, children, and strangers, then you will wind up with a well adjusted dog who gets along well with everyone. Any dog will have to be watched carefully around children, and a younger dog might be too energetic for frail, elderly people. Labrador Retrievers, and Golden Retrievers generally make good family dogs, but they require lots of exercise (beyond a daily walk), and it takes them two or three years to get beyond the puppy stages and settle down into mature dogs. You might look into adopting an adult dog, if you need a calmer dog right away.

For a new owner there are so many good books, but I think the It's Me Or The Dog: How To Have The Perfect Pet book is quite good considering. It is easy to read, nicley set out, and Ms.Stilwell is an advocate of the positive reinforcement training. I actually managed to get 8 copies very cheaply to put in our puppy packs for new owners and have had lots of encouraging feedback. Definitely worth a look.References :
